Bike the Capital Trail

Let’s celebrate the end of summer! Join us for this bike ride on the Capital Trail the last weekend of summer as we say good bye to heat and humidity and usher in the cooler temps, changing colors, and falling leaves of autumn.
Trail: The Virginia Capital Trail is a dedicated, paved pedestrian and bicycle trail that connects the Commonwealth’s past and present capitals of Jamestown and Richmond along the Scenic Route 5 corridor. The Trail traverses approximately 52 miles, four jurisdictions, and more than 400 years of history along one of the first inland routes in North America.
Where to meet: Four Mile Creek Trailhead (Approx MP 39). 3274 New Market Rd., Henrico, VA, 23231.
Allow at least 30 – 45 minutes of drive time depending on your starting point.
What to bring: Helmet, Water, and your bike.
Once on our bikes we will pedal east towards the Herring Creek Trailhead (Approx MP 27). There will be two speed/distance options. One group will ride at a slower pace and stop about halfway to Herring Creek before turning back for a total distance of 12-14 miles. The second option will be to ride roundtrip to Herring Creek at a quicker pace for a total of 24-25 miles. This area of the trail has little elevation change.
This is an easy, flat, scenic section of the trail suitable for everyone.
Public Restroom facilities are located at the trailhead.
After the ride, for those interested, we will meet at Legend Brewing Co. (321 W. 7th St., Richmond, VA, 23224) to join fellow RSCers for socializing and a bite to eat.
